UKE website wins contest ‘Website without barriers’!

The contest promotes websites made in accordance with the idea of counteracting the digital exclusion and the access to information discrimination. Among winners, there was another website executed by Ideo – lublin.eu

The Barrier-free Website Contest is organized annually. Its main aim is to distinguish websites that are adjusted to the needs of the disabled and the elderly in order to prevent the digital exclusion. Websites submitted to the contest are evaluated by the team of experts. They check the compatibility with the international WCAG standard (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). People with disabilities also participate in this process. They evaluate the accessibility and the easiness of finding information, forms or media.

In this year’s seventh edition of the contest, the website for the Office of Electronic Communications executed by Ideo received the 1st place in the category “Public websites – up to 100 subpages”. In the “Accessibility Report” prepared by the Widzialni Foundation, the website received a great rating. It also won a 2nd place in the category “Others, public institutions - selected websites”.

"The design, the execution and the implementation of the website were made by the Ideo team". Martin Stysiak, a spokesperson for the Office of Electronic Communications, summarizes the project: "Since the beginning of the cooperation with Ideo, we paid a lot of attention to the highest standards so our website could be available for people with special needs. Consultations with the Widzialni Foundation helped us at the stage of website development."

The mutual agreement between Ideo and OEC teams resulted not only in the website adapted to the specific needs of people with disabilities. "It is not the end of our efforts. We are already working with Ideo on further improvements. I believe that our future cooperation will be as successful as the first one" – says Stysiak.

Another website made by Ideo and distinguished in the contest was the website for the city of Lublin. It is based on the original CMS platform and meets the needs of both residents and tourists.
